Write (and Publish)
a Real Book.
With Real People. This Year.

4–6 co-writing sessions every week. Writers and visual artists. Real publication dates.
Two themes open now: Belonging and Humanity vs. AI.

UPCOMING VOLUMES

Belonging

Where do you belong? Where do you stop pretending you do? Essays, stories, poems, and visual art asking the question from every angle.

You don’t have to have an answer to write or create art about belonging.
You just have to have been looking.

Humanity VS AI

How do we discover our humanity in a time where tech threatens to eliminate things we have normalized doing ourselves.

Whatever you think about AI and our humanity in a time of technocrats, this is the anthology that wants to hear it.

The Process

  • Join the writer’s circle

One membership, everything included. No separate anthology application.

  • Show up to sessions – 4–6 sessions a month

Live co-writing, workshops, read-alouds, visual art dialogues, editing circles. Multiple timezone slots. People are expecting you.

  • Follow the four-month production timeline

Draft → workshop → revise → publish. You always know what you’re working toward and when.

  • Get published

A real book with a cover, an ISBN, a publication date, and your name in it. Contributor revenue back to you when it sells.

WRITERS AND VISUAL ARTISTS

This program is for writers

AND artists

Each anthology pairs written work with original visual art. Illustration, photography, collage, hand-lettering, printmaking, design – your work belongs here just as much as the essays and fiction. We’re not looking for art that illustrates the text. We’re looking for art that responds to the theme from its own angle.

Essays, fiction, poetry, personal narrative
Illustration, collage, photography, printmaking
Written and visual work in dialogue, side by side
Contribute writing, visual art, or both
  • We are looking for folks who want to be in print

  • Central themes with broad scope of inclusion

  • We take care of the printing & distribution process

  • You get to be a part of commerce in community

Write to Get Published.

The Good Gather anthology program publishes six books a year, each one a mix of fiction and nonfiction, built around themes that let both forms tell the same truth from different angles. Every anthology is written inside a community writer’s circle that meets twice a month across multiple timezones with rotating hosts, supported by a professional editor on staff, and launched to a community of 1,000 advance readers who help it find its people in the world. When the books sell, contributor revenue goes back to the writers whose words are in them. The whole program – the writer’s circle, the publishing credits, the advance reader community, everything the Good Gather holds — is included in our regular members of $499 USD a year.
Some anthology programs charge $5,000 just to include your name. We are doing the opposite of that.

Writing in Community

  • The writing gets on the calendar and the calendar makes it real

  • The people in the room are expecting you and that changes everything about whether you show up

  • Someone can see what is wrong with your second act faster than you can because they are not inside it

  • You get better every single time you are in the room whether you said a word about your own work or not

  • The piece that has been sitting in your head for four years gets written when there is a room that expects it
